Eyestrain has a
number of causes, the most common being reading and computer use.
Long periods of any close-work activity can cause eyestrain.
Reducing
vision stress and relaxing vision can relieve the obvious symptoms plus
have additional benefits:
- improved
mental clarity and reading comprehension
- better
balance and coordination, including improved sports performance
- increased
attention span and awareness
- improved
clarity of sight and depth perception
- improved
colour perception and visual memory
- and
more . . .
Eyestrain
due to computer use has become so prevalent that it is termed "Computer
Vision Syndrome", or CVS, in the medical community. The National
Institute of Occupational Health and Safety statistics show that of the
millions of people who work with computers more than three hours per
day, 88 percent suffer from eyestrain. The American Optometric
Association estimates that this problem costs employers and employees
$2 billion each year to diagnose and attempt to treat it. This is in
addition to the costs associated with lowered productivity and the
millions of lost work days each year.
Whether
you want to reduce your own eyestrain or reduce the eyestrain of your
employees (and thus increase productivity), there's a workshop
for your needs. If you would prefer to schedule one-on-one consultations,
